Complaints of tax evasion against Arda Turan

Sport, one of the main Catalan media dailies, wrote that an investigation was opened against Arda Turan, who played for Barcelona and Atlético Madrid for a time, alleging tax crimes.

Arda Turan, who supposedly owed 828,000 euros to the Treasury for not correctly taxing his income, would have committed two different crimes. Following the complaint made by the Economic Crimes Prosecutor’s Office in 2021, it was revealed that an investigation was opened against the actor.

It was reported that Arda Turan evaded taxes for 499 thousand 740 thousand euros in 2015 and 328 thousand 351 euros in 2016. The accusation affirms that the former national soccer player did not even present a self-assessment of his personal income tax, let alone comply with his obligations. The Prosecutor’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office are expected to present their indictments. Therefore, there is a possibility that the former national football player will appear in court.

However, the news indicated that Arda Turan could avoid the sanction if he reached an agreement with the court and paid the necessary amount.

Arda Turan, who ended his career earlier this season, was transferred from Galatasaray to Atlético Madrid in 2011 for a €13m transfer fee. Arda Turan, who went to Barcelona for 34 million euros in 2015 after playing 4 years with the Madrid team, signed for Başakşehir in 2018. Returning to Galatasaray, the club where he started football in 2020, Arda Turan has won many championships throughout his career.
