The transfer of the right-back Malo Gusto, who plays for Lyon, one of the French Ligue 1 teams, to Chelsea has been suspended for now.
Making a statement on social media, Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas officially announced that the young defender will remain in the team until the end of the season.
“I am happy to announce that Malo Gusto, one of Lyon’s great talents, will continue to play for Lyon until June 30, 2023,” Aulas said, explaining that he turned down Chelsea’s offer, which he considered unsatisfactory.
CHELSEA GIVES 20 MILLION BUT…
Chelsea made an offer of 20 million euros for the French under-21 defender, but Lyon rejected it. The French club demands a transfer close to 40 million euros for the young footballer.

The 19-year-old Gusto’s contract with Lyon expires in June 2024. Gusto, who accepted the London outfit’s 6.5-year contract offer, wants to be transferred to the English outfit. It has been known that the president of Lyon, Aulas, will approve the transfer of Gusto if Chelsea raise his offer.
Gusto has made 47 official appearances for Lyon so far. The right-back, who stands out for his speed and precise crosses, is also closely watched by the French national team coach, Didier Deschamps.
