Afghanistan response from Australia
It was claimed that the Australia men’s cricket team decided to withdraw from upcoming matches with the Afghanistan cricket team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as a result of consultations with the government and some circles.
It was emphasized that the decision was made because the Taliban deprived women of their right to work, education and access to parks and gyms.
“Cricket Australia is committed to supporting the growth of the game for men and women around the world, including Afghanistan. If conditions for women and girls improve, we will continue to participate in events with the Afghanistan cricket team.”
Australia canceled a friendly match with the Afghanistan national team in 2021 for similar reasons. (AA)
