Automotive exports supported by 5 provinces

According to the data compilation of the Assembly of Exporters of Turkey and the Association of Exporters of the Automotive Industry of Uludağ, the automotive industry, which closed 2021 with 29 thousand 334 million 554 thousand dollars of exports, made an export of 30 thousand 995 million 808 thousand dollars with an increase of 5.7 percent in 2022.

The automotive sector ranked second in Turkey’s exports after “chemicals and products”, which ranked first with 33,524,626,000 dollars.

With its performance last year, the automotive industry reached the second highest export figure in its history after 31,568,469,000 dollars exported in 2018.

In the automotive sector, Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya and Ankara closed the year with export figures in excess of billions of dollars.

Total auto exports from Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Sakarya and Ankara, accounting for 86.45 percent of Turkey’s auto exports, were recorded at US$26.796.623 thousand.

KOCAELİ MADE MOST OF THE EXPORTS

Kocaeli’s auto exports last year increased 6.2 percent compared to 2021 and reached $7,384,759,000 from $6,956,392,000. With this number of exports, Kocaeli became the province with the highest sales abroad in the automotive sector.

The export sales of Istanbul, which ranks second in exports, increased by 12.1% over the previous year, from 6,491,435,000 dollars to 7,274,601,000 dollars.

Bursa, on the other hand, finished last year at a point close to the level of 2021 in terms of export performance. Exporting 6,698,405,000 dollars in 2021, Bursa’s foreign sales were recorded at 6,696,947,000 dollars in 2022.

BAŞKENT EXPORTS INCREASE BY 4.4 PERCENT

Sakarya’s exports decreased by 5.6 percent compared to 2021 and decreased from $4,473,469,000 to $4,223,847,000.

The foreign sales of Ankara, which ranks fifth in auto exports, increased by 4.4 percent compared to 2021. Başkent’s export, which was 1.165 million 586 thousand dollars in 2021, increased to 1,216 million 468 thousand dollars last year.

Adana, Aydın, Çankırı, Hatay, İzmir, Kırşehir, Konya, Manisa and Samsun exported more than 100 million USD worth of automobiles. (AA)
