A broad alliance of political parties and social organizations has issued a manifesto calling for more measures to combat aggression and violence. They speak out against the tightening of society and want it to be easier for people in public office, such as lawyers and journalists, to report crime.
They must also be able to perform resistance training. The prosecutor has a role to play in this. The signatories also advocate the establishment of a “partnership” where companies and employees can seek advice.
Public functions
The four governing parties VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie, as well as various opposition parties, unions of police officers, journalists and professional organizations for health workers, lawyers and teachers supported the call.
In the manifesto, an initiative by D66 MP Hanneke van der Werf, they initially call on society, especially the “silent majority”, to denounce the increase in violence and aggression, especially by people in public positions.
In addition to “restoring” “our shared values”, things also need to change in companies, for example. It should become easier to report, and employers should file a complaint on behalf of employees “to remove that burden from them and be able to offer anonymity if people request it.”
