The European Council of Heads of State or Government, as the ‘EU summit’ is officially called, meets in Brussels for its traditional two-day spring consultation. The Council follows shortly after a special summit on migration in early February, but the 27 leaders still have much to discuss.
The summit starts at 11:30 on Thursday. Ukraine is once again at the top of the agenda and President Volodimir Zelensky will report via video link. In February he personally came to Brussels. The EU will once again emphatically reiterate its support for the country ravaged by the war with Russia and will back the decision of the foreign ministers to supply additional ammunition as soon as possible.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres will join talks on “major geopolitical issues,” Prime Minister Charles Michel told leaders in his invitation letter.
The planned reform of the electricity market and migration are also discussed. According to insiders, the Netherlands is very satisfied with the speed with which the European Commission is developing measures to reduce the arrival of migrants “step by step”.
