Minister Conny Helder for Long-Term Care and Sport is considering taking the OneLove bracelet with her on her working visit to the World Cup in Qatar. “I have all the OneLove stuff in the house.”
She hasn’t made a commitment yet, but is strongly considering wearing the OneLove bracelet during her visit. In doing so, she would be following in the footsteps of her fellow German minister, who also wore the sash. “I’m really embracing the OneLove campaign,” says Helder. “As sports minister, I am also directly involved in this in the Netherlands. Therefore I fight for equality and equal treatment of all, and I want to propagate that.’
‘carrying case’
He continues: ‘I have yet to see for myself what I will take with me in my suitcase for Qatar. I have all the OneLove stuff at home and I’m still preparing. It is important for me and for the government that we go to Qatar to actually conduct the dialogue. The goal is therefore to be able to dialogue with the Qatari authorities, but also with the International Labor Organization and with migrant workers’.
While he doesn’t rule out wearing the armband, he points out that he also wants to enjoy the Dutch national team. ‘So I hope that the Dutch national team can play a good game,’ he concludes.
