Producer prices in the eurozone increased in September

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) published PPI data for the European Union (EU) and the Euro Zone for September.

According to the data, the PPI in the EU increased by 0.6 percent in September compared to the previous month and decreased by 11.2 percent compared to September 2022.

In the eurozone, the PPI rose 0.5 percent monthly in September and fell 12.4 percent annually.

THE HIGHEST PPI IS IN IRELAND

Market expectations were that the PPI in the eurozone would increase by 0.5 percent monthly and decrease by 12.5 percent annually. Thus, the eurozone PPI was in line with monthly expectations and close to annual expectations.

Among EU countries, the PPI decreased the most annually in September in Ireland with 38.9 percent, Bulgaria with 32 percent and Italy with 18.3 percent. The annual PPI increased by 23.8 percent in Luxembourg, 7.1 percent in Hungary and 3.1 percent in Slovenia.

On a monthly basis, the PPI rose 28.5 percent in Luxembourg, 2.6 percent in Romania and 2.1 percent in Bulgaria, while it rose 0.9 percent in Finland, 0.3 percent in Poland and 0 percent in Germany. (AA)
