The crisis is over in Ankara: ABB will provide revenue support for private public buses

At its first meeting in November, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council (ABB) unanimously decided to provide revenue support to private public bus operators (ÖHO).

Last month, private public bus operators decided to provide service only 4 days a month to citizens who benefit from free public transportation. Bus drivers had requested free income support per passenger they transported.

The meeting was held in the conference room of the municipal council under the chairmanship of the first deputy chairman of the assembly, Fatih Ünal.

Ünal, who opened the 305th meeting of the Assembly, had the motions read to the member secretaries and put the agenda items and presidential articles to a vote.

Ünal proposed that the presidential letter signed by ABB Chairman Mansur Yavaş, which includes the provision of income support to private public bus traders by the EGO General Directorate until March 31, be included in the agenda of 2024.

The Presidential Charter, put to a vote by Ünal after its inclusion in the agenda, was accepted unanimously with the valid votes of all party groups in Parliament.

INCOME SUPPORT WILL BE PROVIDED

In this context, ÖHO operators operating in the city center will receive income support of 4 lira per passenger transported free of charge and 2 lira per passenger carrying passes.

Additionally, ÖHO with line numbers 202-7 Yenimahalle-Kızılay, 220-7 Mamak-Batıkent-Gendarmerie and 427-7 Subayevleri-Aşağı Ayrancı, 145-7 Dikmen-Atapark, 263-7 Etlik-Balgat and 297-7 Abidinpaşa- Batıkent Due to the low number of passengers and high operating expenses, they will be provided with an income support payment of 4 lira per passenger they transport for free and 4 lira per passenger they transport with a subscription.

Vehicles affiliated with the Ankara Public Private Bus Cooperative (AHOK) operating in the city center will receive income support of 7.30 lira per passenger they transport free of charge and 5.30 lira per passenger transport with a subscription.

ÖHOs operating in surrounding districts will receive income support at the rate of 10 percent of the full ticket fare of each district per passenger they carry free of charge, and for student cards, payments will be made at the rate of 10 percent. percent of the full fare of each district per boarding.

According to the decision, in addition to income support payments to be made between June 16, 2023 and March 31, 2024, free daily use of the card in vehicles will be calculated based on the first four trips to avoid irregular use.

Income support payments will be granted per vehicle in individual operators, and in cooperatives in others, calculating the number of passengers transported free of charge, without exceeding 10 percent of the average of the last 3 months. Furthermore, no payment will be made in any case that during inspections raises suspicions of irregular use.

The decision made by the Assembly will come into force after it is signed by ABB President Mansur Yavaş. (AA)
