QatarEnergy and Shell 27-year supply agreement
QatarEnergy and Shell agreed to supply 3.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually from Qatar to the Netherlands.
According to a statement from QatarEnergy, QatarEnergy and companies affiliated with Shell signed two long-term agreements that provide for the annual supply of 3.5 million tonnes of LNG for 27 years.
Within the scope of the agreements, LNG will be delivered to the Gate LNG terminal in the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands, for 27 years starting in 2026.
The amount will come from two joint ventures between QatarEnergy and Shell, which have interests in Qatar’s North Field-East and North Field-South expansion projects.
According to the statement, Shell’s partnership in the North Field LNG expansion projects consists of a 6.25 percent stake in the 32 million tonne per year North Field-East project and a 9.375 percent stake in the 16 million tonne per year North Field-South project. (AA)
