Double billing fine of 215 million Turkish lira for tobacco companies

The Ministry of Commerce imposed a total administrative fine of 215 million Turkish lira on companies that issued double invoices during its investigations against tobacco companies.

The Ministry’s statement indicated that investigations continue against acts that may be the subject of unfair competition and attempts that may disrupt the mechanism of the free market.

Regarding the inspections carried out in this context, it was stated: “Within the framework of the inspections and investigations carried out by the inspectors of our Ministry in relation to the tobacco industry, an additional tax of 215 million TL was assessed and the fine was imposed. corresponding administrative authority on tobacco companies.”

53 MILLION ADDITIONAL TAXES, 162 MILLION ADMINISTRATIVE FINE

The statement continued as follows:

“In the investigation carried out by our Ministry inspectors, it was determined that double invoices were issued for cigarette raw materials such as tobacco (Virginia and Burley type) and filters, which were imported with false and low values, and invoices were presented for low amounts. . to the customs administrations of our country.

“As a result of these attempted acts, procedures have been initiated to collect public losses of 215 million TL in total, including an additional 53 million TL accrued from taxes and 162 million TL administrative fine for the companies.”

It was noted that initiatives that disrupt the functioning of the market and do not comply with the conditions of fair competition are followed with the greatest sensitivity and efforts will continue to prevent these and other similar violations throughout the sector and to effectively implement the economic policies of our state.
