All eyes on the economy are on the XII Development Plan and the 2024 budget

All eyes on the economy are focused on the Central Government’s Twelfth Development Plan and Budget for 2024, which will be presented to Parliament next week.

The 12th Development Plan, prepared under the coordination of the Strategy and Budget Directorate of the Presidency, is expected to be presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on Monday, October 16.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will make a presentation at the GNAT Planning and Budget Commission on October 17. The plan, which is expected to be discussed in the commission on October 23 and 24, will then be discussed in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

The Development Plan will cover the years 2024-2028 and will reveal the objectives and strategies that Turkey will focus on during this period.

Within the framework of the plan, 54 special expert commissions and 26 working groups were created to determine relevant policy measures. In addition, a survey was carried out among citizens. In the first part of the survey, the main themes of the Development Plan and the priority options among various policy options in this regard were included. In the second part, which was left open, citizens expressed their new and original ideas.

THE BUDGET ALSO REACHES THE ASSEMBLY

Following the Twelfth Development Plan, the draft Central Government Budget Bill 2024 is expected to be presented to Parliament on Tuesday, October 17. Discussions on the budget will begin with Vice President Yılmaz’s presentation to the commission on October 20.

Budget discussions of ministries and institutions are scheduled to conclude in committee on November 24. Following discussions in the commission, the budget is expected to be evaluated at the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey from December 4 to 15.
