BP CEO resigns
According to a statement from the British energy company British Petroleum (BP), the company’s CEO, Bernard Looney, announced his resignation following accusations about his personal relationships with his colleagues.
An investigation into the matter was launched last year due to similar allegations and it was decided that there was no violation of the company’s rules of conduct.
“The company has strong values and the board expects everyone in the company to act in accordance with those values,” BP said in a statement. In particular, all leaders are expected to act as role models and use common sense to gain the trust of others.” Statements were included.
Additionally, the statement notes that the investigation continues and that the company’s chief financial officer (CFO), Murray Auchincloss, will temporarily assume the role of CEO. (AA)
