The unemployment rate in the euro area was unchanged in July
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has published unemployment data for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone for the month of July.
According to the data, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the EU, which was 5.9 percent in June, remained stable in July. The unemployment rate in the eurozone, which in June was 6.4 percent, remained unchanged in July.
DOUBLE DIGITAL IN SPAIN AND GREECE
The unemployment rate was 6.7 percent in the euro area and 6.1 percent in the EU in July last year. According to data compatible with the EU, the unemployment rate in July was 11.6 percent in Spain, 10.8 percent in Greece, 7.6 percent in Italy, 7.4 percent in France and 7.3 percent in Sweden.
While the number of unemployed in the EU was 12,928,000 in July, 10,944,000 of them occurred in the euro area. In July, the number of unemployed young people under the age of 25 was 2,683,000 in the EU and 2,506,000 in the euro area. (AA)
