Record of the last 10 years in number of tourists arriving in Istanbul in July

According to data from the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 8,514,806 foreign tourists arrived in Istanbul in the 7-month period of 2022. The number of tourists increased by 15 percent over the same period this year and rose to 9 million 776 thousand 635.

The city, which was visited by 1,759,506 foreign tourists in July last year, received 1,873,097 foreign tourists this July. Thus, the number of foreign tourists who arrived in July increased by approximately 6 percent compared to last year. According to the data, after July this year, the largest number of tourists came to Istanbul in the same month of 2022.

In July, 1,823,416 people arrived in Istanbul by air and 49,681 people by sea.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of arrivals by air increased 5 percent, while arrivals by sea increased 72 percent.

In July of this year, 1,642 passengers arrived from Atatürk airport, 517,429 passengers from Sabiha Gökçen airport, and 1,304,345 passengers from Istanbul airport. By sea, 1846 from Tuzla port, 42,520 from Karaköy port, 2,926 from Sarayburnu port, 1,719 from Zeytinburnu port, 361 from Ambarlı port, 240 from Haydarpaşa port, 39 from Marmara port, 30 foreign visitors came from the port of Pendik.

71.53 percent of the tourists who arrived by air used Istanbul Airport and 28.38 percent used Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

RUSSIANS RANK FIRST IN JULY

Russians ranked first with 185,636 tourists arriving in Istanbul in July, the same as last month.

Germany with 135 thousand 568 tourists, Saudi Arabia with 135 thousand 96 people, United States with 105 thousand 41 visitors, Iran with 97 thousand 352 tourists, France with 69 thousand 263 people, England with 69 thousand 6 tourists, Iraq with 51 thousand 257 people , and 45 thousand 854 visitors, Kuwait, Israel with 45 thousand 257 people, followed by the Netherlands with 44 thousand 273 tourists.

9.91 percent of those who visited Istanbul in July came from Russia, 7.24 percent from Germany, 7.21 percent from Saudi Arabia, 5.61 percent from the United States, 5 percent , 20 percent from Iran, 3.70 percent from France, 3.68 percent from England (United States). UK), and 2.74 percent from Iraq.
In July, tourists from 196 countries visited the city: one from the Solomon Islands, one from North Korea and Papua New Guinea, and two from Laos and East Timor.
