The employment index rose 3.3 percent on-year in the second quarter

The Statistical Institute of Turkey announced today the second quarter labor input indices for the period from April to June 2023.

Employment index for the industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 3.3 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year earlier. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 0.9 percent in the industry sector, 10.2 percent in the construction sector and 3.5 percent in the trade and service sectors.

When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; it decreased 0.9 percent in the industry sector, increased 0.3 percent in the construction sector, and 0.4 percent in the trade and service sectors.

INDEX OF HOURS WORKED

Index of hours worked for the total industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 1.3 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; it decreased 0.7 percent in the industrial sector, increased 8.0 percent in the construction sector, and increased 1.3 percent in the trade and service sectors.

When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It decreased 0.8 percent in the industrial sector, increased 0.4 percent in the construction sector, and increased 0.2 percent in the trade and service sectors.

GROSS SALARY-SALES RATIO

Wage-gross wage index for the industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 111.1 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 104.3 percent in the industry sector, 126.1 percent in the construction sector and 114.2 percent in the trade and service sectors.

Wage-gross wage index for the industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 12.8 percent in the quarter compared to the prior quarter. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 12.3 percent in the industry sector, 11.3 percent in the construction sector, and 13.3 percent in the trade and service sectors.

LABOR COST INDEX PER HOUR

Hourly labor cost index for the industrial, construction and commercial services sectors, ll. increased 113.7 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year earlier. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 111.8 percent in the industry sector, 111.7 percent in the construction sector and 116.6 percent in the trade and service sectors.

Hourly labor cost index for the industrial, construction and commercial services sectors, ll. increased 10.7 percent in the quarter compared to the prior quarter. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 9.8 percent in the industry sector, 10.2 percent in the construction sector and 11.6 percent in the trade and service sectors.

HOURLY EARNINGS RATE

Hourly earnings index for the industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 108.3 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 105.6 percent in the industry sector, 109.4 percent in the construction sector and 111.4 percent in the trade and service sectors.

Hourly earnings index for the industry, construction and service trade sectors, ll. increased 12.9 percent in the quarter compared to the prior quarter. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 13.2 percent in the industry sector, 10.8 percent in the construction sector and 13.1 percent in the trade and service sectors.

UNEARNED LABOR COST INDEX PER HOUR

Hourly labor cost index excluding industry, construction and commercial services sectors, year 2023, II. increased 144.4 percent in the quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It increased 147.2 percent in the industrial sector, 124.0 percent in the construction sector, and 146.7 percent in the trade and service sectors.

Hourly labor cost index excluding industry, construction and commercial services sectors, ll. increased 1.6 percent in the quarter compared to the prior quarter. When the subsectors are analyzed, the index; It decreased 2.7 percent in the industrial sector, increased 7.3 percent in the construction sector, and increased 4.7 percent in the trade and service sectors.
