Kazakhstan extends import ban to curb illegal entry of grain from Russia
Kazakhstan decided to extend the land import ban on grain for another 6 months to prevent smuggled grain from Russia into the country.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, held under the chairmanship of Minister Serik Jumangarin.
At the inter-institutional meeting, the participants agreed to extend the ban on grain imports by land, which was adopted on April 10, for another 6 months, with some exceptions.
Within the framework of the decision taken to prevent the entry of contraband cereals into the country from Russia, this time the import of cereals will be prohibited not only by land but also by rail.
In Kazakh press news, it was reported that Russian grain, which was smuggled into the country, was sold cheaply to third countries, especially Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. It was noted that this situation negatively affected the domestic production and domestic market of Kazakhstan, which is a grain exporter like Russia, and damaged the economy. (AA)
