As of today, one third of the net minimum wage of 11,402 lira is equivalent to 3,800 lira. The per capita income of a family of two with a monthly retirement income of 7,500 TL remains at 3,750 TL. According to the law, the retirees in question are considered to have fallen into poverty and become needy, and in this context, they are entitled to benefit from needed support. It has been reported that the number of retirees who can go into need and apply for help despite receiving a pension has reached 3 million. Law No. 3294, which regulates state aid to the most needy, was promulgated in 1986. The object of the law; It was determined how to help needy citizens and people who have been accepted or have come to Turkey. Older people who received a pension were excluded from the scope of the law, as they were not in serious financial difficulty when the law was first introduced. However, as pensions turned into birds over time, those who received pensions in 2012 were also able to benefit from much-needed support. In the new regulation, needy retirees are defined as ‘those who are poor and needy among those whose per capita household income is less than 1/3 of the net monthly minimum wage.’ Thus, the definition of retirees has been made that the State ‘officially’ accepts as needy.
850 lira for the needy pensioner
Retired Need support is not provided to all pensioners who have a low salary and cannot earn a living. If the pensioner who receives 7,500 lira a month lives alone, she cannot benefit from the support. If this pensioner has a spouse who does not receive a pension, then he or she is entitled to assistance because the per capita income falls below the poverty line by 50 lira. If the pensioner supports 3 or 4 people with a single pension, then the amount of assistance increases as the per capita income falls further. Currently, the Ministry of Family and Social Services gives money to the needy for 12 months in amounts ranging from 850 TL to 1250 TL.
