Lift Hak-Is Statement
The enlarged meeting of the chairmanship of the Hak-İş affiliated Hizmet-İş union was held in Gazimoğusa, TRNC.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, the president of Hizmet-İş and Hak-İş Mahmut Arslan said that they held the meeting in TRNC to support the young homeland as part of the celebrations of the historical resistance, on July 20, Day of Peace and Freedom, the 49th anniversary. Recommending TRNC to all citizens who want to spend their holidays abroad, Arslan said that more work is needed to make TRNC internationally recognized.

Drawing attention to the increases in his speech, Arslan claimed that inflation reached the highest level in the last 30 years and broke a record in July, saying: “Inflation reduces the share of wage earners in national income and increases equity participation. . Inflation transfers income from the poor to the rich. The July raise took away from the raise we received,” he said.
“THE WORKER WAS HELPED”
Stating that millions of workers who receive the minimum wage and close to it are even more defenseless against hikes, Arslan drew attention to workers fighting for their livelihood in Istanbul, saying: “More than 30,000 of our 32,000 members in Istanbul district municipalities work for the minimum wage in municipal companies. Most of these workers have second jobs. Half of them are rented. More than 80 percent of the owners live in old ancestral homes, some in caretaker apartments. We are making a great effort to include these workers in the public framework protocol and increase their salaries.”
A THOUSAND HOME WORKERS HAVE BEEN UNIONED
President Arslan said that they have made more than a thousand domestic workers members of the union with their recent work. Noting that domestic workers are not within the scope of the Labor Law, Arslan stated that they are fighting to include domestic workers within the scope of the law, just like porters.
