Weak growth expectation from IMF chief
The president of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, announced that global economic activity, especially in the manufacturing sector, has lost momentum and medium-term growth prospects remain weak.
Meeting with G20 finance ministers and central bank governors in the western Indian state of Gujarat, Georgieva said the differences in the economic situation of the countries remained worrying.
HIGH INFLATION AND TIGHT MONETARY POLICY WARNING
Georgieva said inflation is on a downward trend, but “headline inflation remains very high and core inflation remains high despite substantial monetary policy tightening.”
Georgieva warned that inflation could remain high for longer, which would require further tightening of monetary policy. (Reuters)
