Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Ahmet Bolat announced that the salary of the company’s employees increased by 41 percent for the second half of 2023.

Making a statement on his social media account, Bolat stated that the decision was made at the end of negotiations with the Turkish Civil Aviation Union (Hava-İş) and said: “Dear friends, I would like to thank both my colleagues and to our Union. A different formula was agreed for the second half of 2023, so as not to mess up our finances. Consequently, instead of a 21 percent increase plus an additional salary bonus in August and October, direct salaries increased by 41 percent. May it be good and prosperous.”

When mentioning the salary increases that will be made to the personnel who work in THY’s subsidiary companies, Bolat shared the following information:

“To our THY Teknik AŞ employees, tomorrow we will meet with our authorized union managers and discuss alternative improvements that will not harm our finances. We revised the 34 percent increase in our other subsidiaries and additional half-salary bonus formula in August and October as a 34 percent increase and additional salary bonus in August. I wish our 83,000 families the best of luck.”

THE PHOTO WITH COFFEE REACTED

Before signing a 41 percent agreement with the union, Bolat posted on his LinkedIn account announcing that there would be a 20.77 percent raise for THY employees.

Bolat shared: “I drink my coffee calmly. We did the best we could,” and sharing a photo while drinking coffee sparked reactions.

After sharing the rates of increase, the Civil Aviation Union of Turkey reacted to the rate of increase by referring to the Bolat coffee exchange.

In the written statement made on the union’s website under the title ‘Call for Unity’, it was noted that an action plan could be made before the new contract process began. (SÖZCÜ-AA)
