The first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission began
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, made up of representatives of workers, employers and the government, began its first meeting to determine the provisional rate of increase that will be reflected in the minimum wage in July.
The meeting organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security was attended by the TÜRK-İŞ delegation representing the working class and the Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Unions (TİSK) representing the employer segment.
At the meeting, the TÜRK-İŞ delegation is chaired by Pevrul Kavlak and the TİSK delegation is chaired by Akansel Koç.
At the meeting, which was closed to the press, the parties will express their views and discuss current economic data.
FORMER MINISTER SAID ‘It will go up to the $500 level’
Vedat Bilgin, who was Minister of Labor and Social Security before the new cabinet, said in a television program in which he participated: “We will regulate the minimum wage in July in a way that protects real purchasing power. In January we made a deal that took it to the highest level of more than $455 in dollars in the history of the Republic. We will do the same in July. It will be a fee of approximately 500 dollars. Our work is done, ”he said.

Business representatives who spoke to sozcu.com.tr after the last increase in the minimum wage in July indicated that the new minimum wage could increase up to 12 thousand TL with the support that will be given to the employer.
Ramazan Kaya, president of the Turkish Garment Manufacturers Association (TGSD), stated that there was talk of a provisional increase in the minimum wage in the range of 25-35 percent in July, which corresponds to an amount between 10,500 TL and 11,500 TL; The President of the Turkish Service Assembly of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Hüseyin Bozdağ, stated that they already have difficulties in finding employees for TL 8,500, so if the new minimum wage is than 10,000 TL, they can meet it, but if new facilities are provided to the employer, this amount may increase and he said it could reach 12,000 TL.
