ATO Chairman Inflation Accounting Request

The president of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), Gürsel Baran, stated that companies face various responsibilities due to inflation and used the phrase “Inflation accounting should be applied in the determination of tax bases on the income and companies.

According to the ATO statement, the problems, opinions and expectations of the sectors represented in the 68 professional committees of the Chamber were discussed at the meeting attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance Cengiz Yavilioğlu, the deputy directors of Revenue Administration Ayşe Dilbay and Mehmet arabacı. they were also present.

ATO vice presidents, council members and committees also attended the meeting held at the ATO Duatepe Service Building.

DIFFICULTY IN COLLECTING PUBLIC CREDITS FROM THE REAL SECTOR

Speaking at the meeting, Baran asserted that companies face various liabilities due to inflation, saying: “Inflation accounting should be applied in determining income and corporate tax bases.”

Baran also referred to worker-management lawsuits and the need for qualified personnel, and conveyed the problems faced by the real sector regarding the collection of their accounts receivable from the public.

Pointing out that the public sector should not be in the market as a competitor to the real sector, Baran said: “The state should not compete with the private sector. On the other hand, the regulatory and supervisory role of the State must be strengthened without harming free market conditions and competition.

‘VAT RATIOS CAUSE CONSTITUTION’

Baran also listed his suggestions on tax practices, noting that the different rates in the VAT system cause confusion in practice in some sectors. Baran said: “VAT rates on inputs and final products differ within the same sector. A single rate VAT system in accordance with the principle of generality in taxation will increase the competitiveness of companies.

Noting that the discount rate applied to those who pay their taxes in cash should be increased, Baran pointed out that the public sector separates merchants and merchants in its decisions over the real sector, stressing that there is no distinction between the two groups. and that traders should also benefit from the facilities provided to traders.

Deputy Minister Yavilioğlu also stated that the Covid-19 outbreak and the Russia-Ukraine war affected the world economy and thus the Turkish economy.

Yavilioğlu stated that they are carrying out activities to eliminate the effects of these two global factors on the economy, and that the course of the works has changed with the effect of the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. (AA)
