556 thousand working days lost in March due to strikes in England
While 556,000 business days were lost in March as a result of strikes in which employees from various sectors demanded an increase in the inflation rate, unemployment in the country rose 0.1 percent to 3.9 percent in March.
According to the British Office for National Statistics (ONS), the UK employment rate rose 0.2 percent in March to 75.9 percent.
This increase was due to the growth in the number of part-time and self-employed workers in the last 3 months.
Due to the increase in the number of people who lost their jobs in the last 12 months in the country, the unemployment rate increased in March by 0.1 percent to 3.9 percent.
MANY SECTORS WERE ON STRIKE DUE TO THE RECRUITMENT REQUEST
Average salary growth in the first quarter was 5.8 percent and regular salary growth was 6.7 percent. This rate was calculated as 7 percent in the private sector and 5.6 percent in the public sector.
In this period, the increase in the average salary adjusted for inflation decreased 3 percent, while the increase in regular salaries decreased 2 percent.
In the UK, 556,000 working days were lost in March due to strikes in which many workers in the sector, from healthcare to rail, demanded an increase in the inflation rate. This figure was determined at 332 thousand in February.
Meanwhile, inflation in the UK was 10.1 percent in March. (AA)
