28.9 percent of extended families live below the poverty line

TURKSTAT today announced the family data with statistics for 2022. Consequently, 28.9 percent of extended families live below the poverty line.

According to the results of the Address-Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), the median household size in Turkey, which was 4 people in 2008, showed a downward trend and fell to 3.17 people in 2022.

According to the results of the income and living conditions survey, the poverty rate was 21.6 percent in 2022, according to the threshold determined considering 60 percent of the equivalent household median disposable income.

When the poverty rate is analyzed by type of household, it is observed that 10.9% of single-person households, 21% of households formed by a single nuclear family, 28.9% of households formed by extended families , 15% of households made up of more than one person without a family nucleus, it was observed that 5 of them lived below the poverty line.

THE RATE OF PEOPLE LIVING IN THEIR OWN HOME 56.7 PERCENT

According to the results of the income and living conditions survey, when the state of home ownership in 2022 is examined, it is observed that the home in which people live is their own and 27.2 percent are renters. While the rate for those who lived in the accommodation was 1.1 percent, the rate for those who did not live in their own home and did not pay rent was 15.1 percent.

ONE IN THREE PEOPLE CANNOT HEAT

According to the results of the income and living conditions survey, 33.61 percent of people have heating problems due to insulation in their homes in 2022, and 33.57 percent have roof leaks, damp walls, rotten window frame, etc. and 21.72 percent experienced air pollution, environmental contamination, or other environmental problems caused by traffic or industry.
