Free ‘blue ticks’ flew on Twitter
After a bumpy acquisition last year, Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter and who generated great controversy with his moves, went one step further to anger users.
Explaining that the ‘blue tick’ checkmark, which is free next to users’ account name, will be removed entirely, Elon Musk removed the ‘blue tick’ from verified accounts that are not Twitter Blue users.
WHAT HAPPENS TO PERSONAL DATA?
Therefore, verified checkmarks were removed from many famous organizations and names who did not pay an $8 monthly fee for Twitter Blue.
As politicians and artists who lost the blue tick reacted to Musk, Prof. Dr. Yaman Akdeniz drew attention to the fate of the collected personal data, saying: “Today, the real old “blue ticks” are flying in the Musk’s Twitter. From now on, the “blue click account” will simply mean the account that subscribes to Twitter and pays money. While it is not clear what will happen to the personal data collected for old live accounts, it must be destroyed.
