The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) announced the statistics of established and closed companies for February 2023.

Thus, in February 1,225 companies were closed and in the first two months of the year a total of 2,871 companies were closed. In the first 2 months of 2022, a total of 1,894 companies were closed.

Compared with the previous month, the number of closed businesses decreased by 24.8 percent, the number of individual business enterprises closed by 37.1 percent, and the number of closed cooperatives decreased by 41.3 percent.

In annual terms, the number of businesses closed in February increased by 52.4 percent and the number of cooperatives closed by 42.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of closed commercial companies of natural persons decreased by 20.4%.

NUMBER OF ESTABLISHED COMPANIES DECREASED 33.5 PERCENT MONTHLY

Considering the number of established companies, it was observed that the number of established companies in February 2023 decreased by 3.8 percent and the number of established business enterprises of natural persons decreased by 15.7 percent compared to February 2023. 2022. The number of constituted cooperatives increased by 51.1%.

Compared with the previous month, the number of established enterprises decreased by 33.5 percent, the number of established individual business enterprises by 27.6 percent, and the number of established cooperatives by 5.4 percent. .

MORE CLOSING IN WHOLESALE AND RETAIL TRADE

According to TOBB data, in February 2023, 3,243 companies and cooperatives were established in commerce, 1,339 in manufacturing, and 1,330 under construction.

Business companies of natural persons established in February 2023; 612 were involved in the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the wholesale and retail trade, 554 in construction, and 191 in manufacturing.

Companies and cooperatives that closed this month; While 368 are dedicated to wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 175 to manufacturing and 147 to construction; Of the commercial companies of natural persons closed this month, 715 are dedicated to wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 296 to construction and 208 to the manufacturing industry.
