Home sales rose 10.6 percent in January
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the house sales statistics for January 2023.
Accordingly, home sales in Turkey increased by 10.6 percent in January compared to the same month a year earlier and became 97,708.
Istanbul had the highest share of home sales with 17,415 home sales and 17.8 percent.
Based on the number of sales, Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 8,808 home sales and a 9 percent share, and Antalya with 5,572 sales and a 5.7 percent share.
The provinces with the fewest number of houses sold were Hakkari with 23 houses, Ardahan with 24 houses and Tunceli with 42 houses, respectively.

11 PERCENT DECLINE IN LOAN SALES
Sales of foreclosed homes in Turkey decreased by 10.9 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year and became 16,203.
The share of mortgaged sales in total home sales was 16.6 percent. 4,260 of the mortgaged sales in January were first-hand sales.
4,161 HOMES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS IN JANUARY
Home sales to foreigners decreased 0.6 percent in January compared to the same month of the previous year and stood at 4,161.
In January, the share of home sales to foreigners in total home sales was 4.3 percent.

TOP SALES AGAIN IN ANTALYA, ALONGSIDE THE RUSSIANS
Antalya ranked first in house sales to foreigners with the sale of 1,592 houses. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 1,380 house sales and Mersin with 331 house sales, respectively.
In January, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,557 houses from Turkey.
Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by Iran with 526 residences, Iraq with 229 residences, and Ukraine with 157 residences.
