Strike begins at Schneider Energy

The United Metal-İş Union announced that workers at the Schneider Energy factory in Kocaeli went on strike starting at 10:00 a.m., due to a lack of agreement in collective bargaining.

United Metal-Is had announced the day before that 1,400 members of 6 factories at Schneider Energy, Grid Solutions Energy and Hitachi would go on strike. The union hung a strike banner at Schneider Energy when it signed a collective agreement with GE Grid Solutions and Hitachi Energy hours before the strike.

The workers of Schneider Energy began a strike due to the impossibility of reaching an agreement. Adnan Serdaroğlu, president of the United Metal İş union, said: “Congratulations on your strike. This fight will end with the victory of the workers. Together we will achieve a result that will be an example for future struggles.”

LA Huelga warned against postponement

The union made the following statements about the strike yesterday:

“Unfortunately, as always, workers pay the price for the distorted and unilateral economic policies implemented by the government. We will use our power of production to stop this trend, where poverty has increased so much and the share of wages in income is rapidly declining.

In this case, the strike was inevitable for the solution of the conflict. The real losses in the salaries of our affiliates are incomparable with their production and productivity results. The demands of our members are justified and affordable.

Again, we warn the government not to resort to the decision to postpone the strike. Postponement decisions, which have been repeatedly condemned by the Constitutional Court in the past, will not prevent our union from exercising this right.
