Retirees want an increase in adjustment and vacation bonus
Kazım Ergün, President of the Turkish Retirees Association (TÜED), said: “EYT must be completed with steps to increase the rate of pension increase to 30 percent, increase the minimum pension to 5,500 lira, the arrangement of adjustment and the increase in the holiday bonus”.
Ergün made remarks following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s remarks about increasing the rate of pension increase to 30 percent and the lowest pension to 5,500 lira.
TRANSFERRED THE REQUESTS
In his written statement, Ergün recalled that TÜED had requests for both a further increase in pensions and an increase in the lowest pension, saying:
“Although it seems positive to us that the rate of increase in pensions has gone from 25 percent to 30 percent, and the lowest pension from 3,500 liras to 5,500 liras, we see it as incomplete. The EYT should be crowned with the steps to increase the rate of pension increase to 30 percent, increase the monthly minimum wage to 5,500 lira, the adjustment arrangement and the increase in the vacation bonus.
Millions of retirees are looking forward to the presentation of the adjustment agreement to Parliament along with the EYT agreement. Taking this step will breathe a sigh of relief to those retiring after 2000.” (AA)
