The export goal of the automotive industry in 2023 is 34 billion dollars.
According to the statement of the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters Association (OIB), the exports of the Turkish automotive industry in 2022 increased by 5.7 percent compared to 2021 and reached 30.996 million dollars.
In December 2022, the automotive industry, which managed to export 3,157 million dollars with an increase of 6.7 percent, reached the highest monthly export figure in its history.
The president of the Board of Directors of OIB, Baran Çelik, whose opinions are given in the statement, affirmed that they left behind a difficult year in which the effects of the chip crisis continued, the problems that grew exponentially with factors such as the high inflation, rising energy costs and the risk of a global recession, were further deepened by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
‘WE BET AGAIN ON THE SECTORAL CHAMPIONSHIP’
Stating that despite the slowdown in the economy and changes in demand, especially in Europe, the largest market, they registered an increase in automotive exports throughout 2022, Çelik said;
“We closed the year 2022 with approximately 31 billion dollars. The year 2023 has a different meaning for the sector. In honor of the 100 years of our Republic, we aspire to resume our sectoral championship in the country’s exports with an export of 34 billion dollars, which we aim for this year” (AA)
