Russia will impose a gas price ceiling with some Western companies
With the decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the decision was made to counter some of the sanctions of Western countries against the Russian energy sector.
Under the decree covering some natural gas fields in which Gazprom and OMV and Wintershall jointly operate in Russia, the Russian company will not pay more than the maximum price determined by the Russian government for natural gas it buys there.
The decree, which established that the counter-penalties covered the Urengoy and Yuzhno-Russkoye gas fields, also instructed the Russian government to set the maximum price in question within 10 days.
The European Union decided to impose comprehensive sanctions on the Russian energy sector due to the war in Ukraine. (AA)
