Tesla will sell cars for 25,000 euros in Germany

American electric vehicle maker Tesla plans to produce electric vehicles that will sell for 25,000 euros ($26,838) at its factory near Berlin.

Tesla, which aims to bring electric vehicles to a broader audience, has been working on this plan for a long time. Tesla produces the Model Y, the best-selling electric vehicle in Europe, at its factory in Germany.

According to the automotive research company JATO Dynamics, the average retail price of electric vehicles in Europe in the first half of 2023 exceeded 65 thousand euros. In China, the average price was just over 31 thousand euros.

IT WAS ARCHIVED LAST YEAR

Tesla shares rose 3 percent in pre-market trading in the United States. Musk had long planned to produce a more affordable electric vehicle, but he shelved the plan in 2022, claiming that he did not master this technology.

However, sources told Reuters in September that Tesla had reached technology that would allow almost the entire underside of the electric vehicle to be made in one piece.

Tesla’s ability to deliver electric vehicles to a broader audience is important to the company’s goal of delivering 20 million vehicles by 2030.

The source close to the matter did not provide information on when production would begin. Tesla did not respond to questions. (REUTERS)
