In the first six months of this year, the share of imported vehicles in Turkey’s total automobile and light commercial vehicle market was 61.79 percent, and the share of Turkish-made vehicles was 38.20 percent.
According to the data collected by the AA correspondent of the Association of Automotive and Mobility Dealers (ODMD), the total sales of cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 55.3 percent in the period January-June 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year. , and amounted to 555 thousand 867.
In said period, automobile sales increased 54.5 percent to 429,870 units, while light commercial vehicle sales increased 58.2 percent to 125,997 units.

According to ODMD data, while the share of domestically produced vehicles in total sales was 43.89 percent in 2021, this rate decreased to 43.81 by the end of 2022.
In 2020, the share of domestically produced vehicles in total sales was 45.72 percent, while the share of imports was 54.27 percent. In 2019, the share of domestic production was 43.01 percent and the share of imports was 56.98 percent. In 2018, the share of domestic production in sales was 37.12 percent and the share of imported vehicles was 62.87 percent.
Fiat, which consists of Turkish-made vehicles, 96,940 out of 101,167 units sold in the car and light commercial vehicle market in the January-June period, once again took the lead in the domestic unit sales ranking.
Fiat was followed by Renault, of which 43,845 were domestic production out of 58,705 total sales, and Ford, 37,285 of 50,803 total sales, which was domestic production.
Hyundai ranked fourth with 19,830 domestic sales out of 27,823 sales, and Toyota ranked fifth with 13,223 sales out of 23,802 total sales.
