The car and light commercial vehicle market broke a record in June
The market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles, which has reached a record high with the increase in the supply of vehicles since the beginning of the year, again broke a record by reaching 110,861 units, an increase of 37.5 percent in June.
According to data released by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), sales in the first six months of the year rose 55.3 percent to 555,867 units.
While concerns that the exchange rate and prices would rise rapidly after the elections ahead of the late May elections buoyed demand, relatively easy financial conditions also supported demand.
INCREASED SALES
Although the exchange rate rose more than 20 percent after the election, demand remained strong. At the same time, the reduction of the vehicle availability problem and the delivery of orders received in recent months also supported the sales figures.
Posting the highest monthly sales ever at the start of the year, the auto and light commercial vehicle market also hit record sales in June. Total sales for the last 12 months were approximately 981 thousand units, just 2 thousand units below the sales seen in 2016.
In the breakdown of cars and light commercial vehicles, auto sales rose 40.1 percent to 89,833 units, while light commercial vehicles rose 27.3 percent to 21,028 units. (Reuters)
