Strike call for auto mechanics
In Germany, the IG Metall union has called on workers at car dealerships and repair shops to stage a warning strike starting April 3 to force employers to raise wages against inflation.
The IG Metall union said in a statement that first-round negotiations with employers on wage increases for unionized workers in auto mechanics and car dealerships were unsuccessful.
The statement called for 435,000 employees of auto mechanics and car dealers across Germany to hold a warning strike starting tomorrow to force employers to pay better wages against inflation.
It was reported that at the regional level the place and time of the alert strikes will be announced.
IG Metall wants an 8.5 percent increase in wages and inflation compensation against the effects of unusually high inflation in Germany. (AA)
