Automotive production increased 5% in 10 months

The Automotive Industry Association (OSD) announced production and export figures and market data for the period from January to October.

Thus, in the 10 months of the year, total automotive production increased 5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1,076,865, while automotive production decreased 0.3 percent to 633,369.

The total production of the tractor reached 1 million 116 thousand 583 units.

In the January-October period, commercial vehicle production increased 13 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

In this period, while production in the heavy commercial vehicle group increased by 31 percent, production in the light commercial vehicle group increased by 11 percent. In said period, the capacity utilization rate of the automotive industry was 67 percent.

Based on the vehicle group, capacity utilization rates were determined to be 66 percent for light vehicles (car + light commercial vehicle), 88 percent for the truck group, 37 percent for the bus group, and midibus and 64 percent in the tractor.

AUTOMOTIVE EXPORTS INCREASE

In the period January-October, automotive exports increased 3 percent unit compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 779 thousand 317. In said period, while automobile exports decreased by 2 percent compared to the same period of The previous year, exports of commercial vehicles increased by 10 percent. Tractor exports, for their part, increased 12 percent compared to 2021 and amounted to 15,172.

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the total exports of the automotive industry ranked second in sectoral exports with a share of 12 percent in the period January-October 2022.

According to data from the Uludağ Exporters Association (UIB), total auto exports in the January-October period increased by 4 percent compared to 2021 and reached $25.4 billion. In euros, it rose 18 percent to 24 billion euros. In this period, the exports of the main industry increased by 2 percent and the exports of the supplier industry increased by 9 percent in dollar terms. (AA)
