Ban on speech about Donald Trump
The New York Court of Appeals imposed a “speaking ban” on Donald Trump for the second time in connection with the case in which he was accused of overstating the assets of his companies.
Thus, the “speaking ban,” which was previously imposed but lifted after his objection, prevents Trump from making public statements about the staff of Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who presided over the case.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the legal case over real estate fraud, which has been ongoing in Manhattan Supreme Court since October 2, Judge Arthur Engoron banned Trump from speaking about court staff, following a post he made on his account social networks.
Trump was fined $15,000 by Engoron for failing to comply with the “speech ban” imposed on him on October 3, and his lawyers asked the New York appeals court to immediately stay the decision on Trump.
Judge David Friedman of the New York State Intermediate Court of Appeals suspended the gag order on Trump on November 17. (AA)
