Israeli ministers will be subjected to lie detectors
Israel is said to be preparing a bill to test ministers with a lie detector to prevent “information leaks” at cabinet meetings.
Israeli state television KAN news reported that the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office is planning a bill to test ministers with a lie detector to prevent security issues discussed at cabinet meetings from being leaked.
According to the bill the Prime Minister is working on, it is planned that participants in the sessions will be connected to a lie detector to determine whether they are telling the truth or not, in order to avoid “security problems” . discussed in cabinet meetings are leaked.
It was noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tasked Israel’s Internal Intelligence Agency, Shin-Bet (Shabak), with responsibility for the lie detector test, but the Shin Bet expressed reservations on this issue.
It was stated that Shin Bet members believe that measures should be taken to prevent infiltration of cabinet meetings, but they have reservations about the bill and want a meeting with the National Security Council to discuss this issue.
Under the bill, everyone attending cabinet meetings, including government legal advisers, heads of security agencies and civil servants, will be required to undergo this test. Some sources claim that Netanyahu is expected to be exempt from this test due to the pacemaker he carries in his body. (AA)
