Volcano erupted and tsunami warning was issued

An explosion was reported to have occurred at the Ulawun volcano in the Pacific island country of Papua New Guinea.

In the statement from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) it is stated that the volcanic smoke after the explosion of the Ulawun volcano in Papua New Guinea is estimated to have reached a height of 15 thousand meters.

The statement noted that the possibility that the explosion could cause tsunami waves to reach the coasts of Japan was taken into consideration. The statement states that no “abnormal rise” in sea level has been detected and asks those living on the coast to be sensitive to the warnings.

The statement states that possible tsunami waves could first reach the Izu archipelago, facing the southern region of the capital, Tokyo. (AA) An explosion occurred at the Ulawun volcano in Papua New Guinea. (AA)
