Crisis of the agreement with the separatists: Thousands of people took to the streets

The agreement with the Catalans caused confusion in Spain

In Madrid, the capital of Spain, thousands of Spaniards protested against the bill presented to Parliament by the Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), which includes an amnesty for Catalan separatists.

With the call of nearly 100 right-wing and extreme right-wing non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the slogan “Not in my name: Neither amnesty nor an independence referendum. The demonstration held in the center of Madrid under the name “For freedom, unity, equality” was also attended by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the right-wing Popular Party (PP), and Santiago Abascal, leader of the far-right party Vox.

The crowd gathered in Kibele Square, full of Spanish flags, chanting slogans such as “traitor” and “Sánchez to jail”, and the leader of the PSOE and president of the Government, who received the vote of confidence from Parliament on 16 November with the support of Catalan political parties, under the condition of amnesty for Catalan separatists, to form a left-wing minority coalition government, reacted to Pedro Sánchez.

Protests by far-right groups in front of the PSOE building in Madrid, which usually end in violence, have continued for more than two weeks. (AA)
