Germany announced: The EU will not be able to fulfill its promise to Ukraine
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told reporters in Brussels that he expects Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure will also increase this winter.
The Minister stated that for this reason it is necessary to strengthen kyiv’s air defense and protect infrastructure, and that they will continue to support Ukraine.
“GERMANY IS THE SECOND SUPPORT OF UKRAINE”
Recalling that Germany announced a few weeks ago a package of one billion euros to support Ukraine, Pistorius affirmed that Germany is the country that gives the most support to Ukraine after the United States.
Pistorius said that so far more than 8,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained in Germany and he expects this number to increase to approximately 10,000 before the end of the year.
THE PROMISE OF 1 MILLION CANNONBALLS
When reminded that the EU promised to provide 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine, Pistorius said: “One million will not be reached. “We have to accept that,” he said.
“Unfortunately those who warned were right”
Pistoris emphasized that he did not promise to provide 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine, saying: “There were people here who said: ‘be careful, it’s easy to make the decision of 1 million, there is money, but there must also be production.'” “Unfortunately , the warning voices were right,” he said.
Minister Pistorius stated that the problem here is production capacity and that production must be increased and accelerated.
In March, the EU agreed to provide 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine within 12 months.
Today, NATO and the EU had given the message that arms and ammunition support should be increased to Ukraine, where the situation on the ground was difficult. (AA)
