The German Chancellor responded to Erdogan’s words: Absurd
As the international community continues to react to Israel’s attacks on Palestine, a statement that will strain ties between Germany and Turkey came from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz…
In a statement on Erdoğan’s accusation of fascism against Israel, Scholz, who is preparing to travel to Berlin, Germany’s capital, this week, said: “Israel is a country of democracy and a country that respects human rights and international laws. “Therefore, the accusations against Israel are absurd,” he said.
Last week, President Erdoğan questioned Israel’s legitimacy and accused Israel of fascism.
Erdoğan is expected to meet with Scholz and his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, this week.
Before the critical visit, Scholz’s spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit, made a statement yesterday. “Germany has always had difficult partners to deal with,” Hebestreit said. “But it is important to come together to move forward on some issues,” he said.
