The audacity of the tenant: he does not pay the rent, he does not leave the house and rents it daily through AirBnB.
The dispute between a man living in the US state of Washington and his tenant has become an international problem…
Landlord Jason Roth, who not only was unable to collect rent regularly after renting out his home, but also learned that his home was being rented to other people “on a daily basis,” went to court. Roth, who said his tenant owed him approximately $50,000 and that he did not vacate the house, did not get the result from the court he expected.
While the hearing was postponed until March 2024, the owner said he had to live in a caravan for months. Roth said: “I need a home. Media attention is great, but it doesn’t help me at all. I have to get my life back. “I’m living in a caravan at the moment,” he said.
“HE DOESN’T PAY RENT, BUT HE EARNS MONEY”
It was also recorded that Roth rented the house to a man named Kareem Hunter for $4,300 a month. “Hunter paid part of the first month’s rent and then didn’t make any payments,” Roth said. “Not only does he not pay me, but he also rents the house through Airbnb, which does not comply with the law,” he stated.
Hunter, for his part, claimed that the landlord pressured him, saying he had agreed with Roth to rent the house on a daily basis.
