New law on the agenda: the Turks will also be on the list

England took steps to expel Turks, Egyptians and Iraqis who entered the country illegally.

In the British Sunday Telegraph news it was noted that England plans to expand the list of “safe” countries and if this plan is implemented, refugees from three countries will be sent to their countries instead of Rwanda.

If this plan is implemented, citizens of three countries that are among the top 10 countries among migrants who crossed the English Channel and arrived in the UK this year will not be sent to Rwanda.

Illegal immigrants from these three countries represented nearly 4,000 people, or a fifth of the total, at the end of August, according to official data analyzed by the Refugee Council.

ASYLUM APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED MORE EASILY

Adding these countries to the list of “safe” countries, along with EU countries, Switzerland and Albania, will make it easier to reject asylum applications and return these people to their countries.

The move comes before the Supreme Court rules next week on the legality of the government’s Rwandan deportation plan, which has been stalled since it was blocked by the European Court of Human Rights last summer. If approval is given, the first flights are expected to take place in the new year.

If it is declared illegal, senior ministers and Conservative MPs are expected to push for the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.

An expanded “insurance” list would be part of any Plan B, as it would facilitate the repatriation of immigrants to their home countries in the event of a defeat.

If successful, it would likely reduce the number of migrants who must be sent to Rwanda and ease pressure on the Central African state.

Last week, Home Secretary Suella Braverman announced that India and Georgia had been added to the UK’s list of “safe” countries for illegal migrants to return to, following a rise in Channel crossings.

2,121 TURKS CROSSED THE CANAL IN THE FIRST 8 MONTHS OF 2023

In the eight-month period to the end of August, 2,121 people from Turkey and 679 people from Egypt crossed the English Channel. Both countries are believed to be “under active consideration” for inclusion on the “safe” list. It was recorded that 1,774 immigrants entered the country from Iraq.

The UK is also in talks with Turkey to sign an Albania-style rapid return agreement, following an agreement signed between the two countries earlier this year to increase coordination in the fight against people smuggling gangs.
