Blinken statement on ‘Palestinian state’

Blinken: A Palestinian state is needed

According to a statement from the US State Department, Blinken spoke to the press in Japan, where he attended the meeting of foreign ministers of the G7 countries.

“WE CANNOT LET HAMAS RULE GAZA”

Referring to conflicts between Israel and Hamas, Blinken said: “We cannot allow Hamas to rule Gaza because this would invite a repeat of October 7. “But we cannot allow Israel to occupy Gaza again,” he said.

Blinken noted that the Palestinian people cannot be expelled from Gaza, saying, “Ultimately, you need an administration that unites the West Bank and Gaza and, as we said before, a Palestinian state.”

HUMANITARIAN AID TO GAZA

Stating that both Palestinians and Israelis have the right to live equally in their own states, Blinken also said they are trying to significantly increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, which is under blockade.

Blinken stated that they consulted with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the issue of preventing civilian casualties in Gaza and providing a humanitarian pause, stating that they were involved in the process and supported the humanitarian pause. (AA)
