Israel’s religious propaganda: Soldiers celebrated praying in Gaza synagogue

The news that Israeli soldiers prayed in a historic synagogue in Gaza caused a stir in the Israeli press.

The Jerusalem Post, one of the country’s leading newspapers, wrote that Israeli soldiers entering the center of Gaza City were praying in a synagogue that dates back to the 6th century. The news said that for the first time in years, Israelis prayed in the synagogue, which is of great importance to Judaism.

According to army regulations, the newspaper did not publish photographs of Israeli soldiers for security reasons. It was claimed that the most searched Hebrew phrase on Google yesterday was “historic synagogue in Gaza.”

‘THE JEWS RETURNED TO GAZA’

Michael Freund, founder of the Jewish association Shavei Israel, shared the news with the words “The Jews returned to Gaza.” Many Israeli groups and far-right politicians also shared messages on social media showing that they welcomed the event with enthusiasm.

It should be noted that the debate took place as accusations continued that Israel was planning to reoccupy Gaza.

In his statement yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that Israel would not abandon Gaza and said it would retain “responsibility for the security of the Gaza Strip for an indefinite period” after the war ends.

The US State Department, on the other hand, stated that they do not support Israel’s reoccupation of Gaza and have clearly informed Israel of this.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 after 38 years of occupation, but continued to blockade the region by land and sea.
