Call from international organizations for a ceasefire in Gaza
The Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), led by the United Nations (UN) and including humanitarian organizations, called for an “urgent humanitarian ceasefire” in Palestine, under intense attacks by Israel.
The IASC released a written statement regarding Israel’s continued attacks on Gaza. The statement stated that the entire population of Gaza was under siege and that these people were prevented from accessing basic needs, and that the bombing of homes, shelters, hospitals and places of worship in the region was “unacceptable.”
The statement stated that they were “shocked and horrified” by the increasing number of deaths in Gaza each day, and reiterated the call for the parties to respect all their obligations under international human rights law.
The statement read: “We need an urgent humanitarian ceasefire (in Palestine). 30 days have passed. It’s enough. “This must end now.” (AA)
