Pregnant Palestinians give birth prematurely or have abortions due to constant attacks by Israel
Due to Israel’s continued attacks on the Gaza Strip, where hospitals are also attacked, pregnant women in the region suffer premature births or miscarriages.
Gaza civilians, who are facing difficult times across the board due to Israeli attacks, face many problems, such as basic food and shelter, even if they escape the bombing.
Pregnant women are among those who suffer the most from attacks in the Gaza Strip, where areas where civilians gather, such as hospitals, schools and places of worship, are also attacked. Pregnant women in the region suffer miscarriages and premature births due to the trauma they face, as well as a lack of beds, doctors, and prenatal and postnatal medical care due to intense Israeli attacks.
– Pregnant women cannot reach hospitals due to bombings
Palestinian Islam Hamdan said his sister was about to give birth at al-Hulu International Hospital in Gaza.
Hamdan, who lives in the city of Beit Hanun, said: “My sister wants to give birth to her baby. We went to more than one health center and hospital and encountered bombings. “We had difficulties moving from Beit Hanun at night,” he said.
Hamdan explained that they were referred from more than one health center and said: “We experienced horrible scenes. “There is no hospital, no security, no school, no safe place here.” he said.
Hamdan explained that the fears caused by the Israeli bombings were severely affecting pregnant women, saying: “There are many cases of miscarriages and premature births among women who cannot reach hospitals because of the bombings.”
A LOT OF WOMEN…
Gynecologist Dr. Abdulhakim Shehata also said: “Since the beginning of the attack on Gaza, many women have given birth prematurely and aborted due to fear and panic.”
Shehata stated that pregnant women normally receive treatment at the Åžifa hospital and recalled that, as a result of the intense Israeli bombardment, the hospital in question was inundated with wounded and was working far beyond its capacity. Shehata explained that for this reason, women went to the less equipped Al-Hulu hospital for childbirth procedures.
Shehata said: “We are at war and there is a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. We are missing everything in the medical field. Most of the doctors traveled from north to south to treat the wounded. “Currently, the hospital works with very few doctors,” he said.
The Palestinian Health Ministry says the city’s hospitals are experiencing severe shortages of fuel, medicine and medical supplies due to Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Health Minister Miya Keyle said in a statement yesterday: “We warned of a humanitarian disaster as the main generator at Shifa Hospital was turned off after a few hours due to lack of fuel. “The backup generators can only supply electricity to three sensitive sections for several hours.” He used the following expressions.
Noting that 16 of the 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are inoperable due to shelling and lack of fuel, Keyle noted that the others could be out of service within 24 hours due to fuel shortages.
THE NUMBER OF DEATHS IS INCREASE
The Gaza Health Ministry announced the death toll from Israel’s current attack.
According to the statement, the death toll in Israeli attacks increased by 261 in the last 24 hours, reaching 9,488. “3,900 of those who died were children and 2,500 women.” (AGENCIES)
