Bill prepared to ban Palestinians from entering the US
Citing security reasons, Republican Zinke introduced the bill to the House of Representatives, which would prevent those with Palestinian passports from entering the United States and could lead to the deportation of Palestinians in the country on visas.
Zinke, who served as secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs during the reign of former US President Donald Trump, said he prepared the bill called the “Protection Against Extremism Act” to keep US citizens safe.
Zinke said of the bill signed by 10 Republican members of Congress: “Given the circumstances, the threats to our immigration system, and the history of terrorists abusing asylum, asylum, and visa processes around the world, the requirements of this bill are imperative to keeping Americans safe.”
If the bill in question becomes law, the US Department of Homeland Security will be prevented from granting asylum to those holding Palestinian passports. (AA)
